THIS COURSE WILL BE HELD AT DISTRICT 218 ACADEMY. ADDRESS: 10801 SOUTH KILPATRICK AVENUE, OAK LAWN, IL 60453 This course aims to help instructional leaders support teachers as they create classrooms where all students are actively engaged, are mathematical problem-solvers, and discuss and make sense of their solutions, in order to improve all students' learning of mathematics. In this single-session course, participants will explore the guiding principles articulated by the National Council of teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) in Principles to Actions: Ensuring Mathematical Success for AA, especially the Teaching and Learning Principles, the eight Mathematics Teaching Practices, and concrete teacher and student actions to enact the Practices and support student learning. Participants will build their understanding of the Mathematics Teaching Practices, the research supporting their consistent use in every lesson, and how they support the implementation of the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSSM).
