Bilingual Spanish Special Education Teacher

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to maximize the learning experience of bilingual students with special needs, in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living by implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities, outcomes; addressing students’ specific needs; providing a safe and optimal learning environment. This position will also support general education bilingual students through the provision of targeted interventions. 



  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • LBS1 Certification (Special Education)
  • BSPA K-8 Endorsement (Bilingual Education Teacher)


Essential Functions 

  • Operate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement Individual Educational Programs for students and insure that all recommendations for services are implemented
  • Provide individualized or small group interventions to bilingual students. 
  • Utilize a variety of techniques and materials as dictated by individual student abilities and learning styles.
  • Evaluate and assess student functioning and progress.
  • Assume responsibility as case manager for all students assigned to a caseload.
  • Establish and maintain regular communication with school personnel as well as students’ parents/guardians
  • Write daily lesson plans and develop a weekly plan which incorporates all individual objectives and group activities into a schedule which maximizes the use of each student’s time spent in school.
  • Maintain appropriate student behavior in the classroom and all other areas of the building and establish and maintain an accepting, positive classroom atmosphere.
  • Attend special education and building team meetings and inservices.
  • Plan for, direct and evaluate instructional aides.
  • Assume responsibility for continued professional growth.
